Context: Goodplanet sought assistance to create, prepare and execute a successful event with the dual ambition of raising funds and reactivating their support network, as well as attracting new donors.
Solution: A Gala dinner for 100 guests organised at the Foundation’s headquarters on the edge of Paris. The high points of the evening : a live auction made up of ‘money can’t buy’ exclusive experiences; an original vegetarian dinner was concocted by the young top chef Juan Arbalaez; the evening concluded with a unique showcase performance by the immensely talented emerging artist Zaho de Sagazan.

Context: This medium-sized French NGO doing invaluable work in West Africa to improve women and children’s access to healthcare wanted to organize a first event designed both to raise awareness and funds. However, they lacked a good network and had few existing donors, as well as having a very small budget to run the event.
Solution: The challenges included putting together a low-cost but nevertheless professional and attractive event in central Paris, as well as knowing how to expand the existing network and bring onboard new donors. Parallel to the event, which took place in one of Paris’ prestigious town halls and welcomed 150 guests, Solthis organised a raffle which further increased the fundraising. The raffle also helped to raise the NGO’s profile among different communities thus broadening the data base.

Context: Several important issues were at stake for the Foundation of this top French Engineering school : bringing increased focus on the school’s long-term ambitions; raising awareness about the Foundation’s fundraising campaign thus leading to increased donations; strengthening and bringing together the CentraleSupelec community in the UK and in France.
Solution: Two events were organised, firstly a Gala Dinner for 120 guests in a prestigious location in the heart of London. A particularly motivated and dynamic Gala Committee succeeded in bringing onboard many distinguished guests. The dinner was further enhanced by powerful speeches and testimonies and culminated in a successful appeal for donations. In Paris, 10 months later, a second event followed much the same pattern and raised an impressive one million euros !!

Context: A desire to refresh and invigorate the existing format and organisation of the annual meeting of the hundred or so Foundations operating under the aegis of the Caritas Foundation.
Solution: a) Organisation of an informal dinner at the Quai Liberté restaurant, on a barge on the Seine river run by the Wake Up Café association. Wake Up Café is supported by the Caritas Foundation and both DNA are perfectly aligned.
b) Conceive and pilot the seminar the following day at La Recyclerie, a third place housed in a former train station in the north of Paris. Testimonials, workshops to share best practices, round table meetings, networking opportunities, all in the presence of a sketch artist.
GRAND CHANCERY OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR

Context The challenge was to raise awareness among new patrons – as well as existing sponsors – about the need to restore and promote the buildings and archives belonging to the Order of the Legion of Honour.
Solution: During the step by step implementation of a sponsorship strategy over a period of 3 years, organisation of 4 gala dinners (3 in Paris and 1 in New York), as well as other public relations events designed to thank and retain patrons. Amongst the ingredients that made these events successful: a gourmet dinner offered by a top chef, a concert by world-class cellist Gautier Capuçon with the choir of the Maisons d’Éducation de la Légion d’Honneur, generous contributions from patrons (thus reducing the organising costs).

About
Kate de Montjoye
Kate de Montjoye comes from a dual Franco-British culture, combining British pragmatism with French flair. Kate has worked in communication throughout her career culminating in a 10-year stint organising PR events for the chairman of Société Générale. This included creating tailor-made events for VIP clients and running the bank’s hospitality programme for the Rugby World Cup.
Recently, she spent 7 years in India managing a charitable trust and working hands-on with numerous NGOs. Now back in France, Kate is using her event management and communication skills as well as her considerable experience to help charities and NGOs strengthen their profile and raise funds.
